Goal 1: Continue to provide and maintain stable and reliable computer hardware in labs and classrooms for use by students and staff members.

Objective A: Support of our current hardware deployment requires 2.74 personnel by state standards. We currently employee 3.5 full time staff and 0.5 in contracted support service. Given the state hardware support formula, we currently only have 1.26 in professional resources to support all requirements beyond hardware (technology leadership, instructional support, training, lab management at the elementary schools, etc.) Given this, our goal is to increase current technology staffing by one full time equivalent to include technology integration support at both the elementary and secondary levels, so that each school has a technology staff resource to address ICT standards. Additionally, the technology integration staff at each building will provide technical support in the building in order to meet both the urgent and important needs, rather than having to choose between those needs. Review of staffing levels on a yearly basis to insure that our level of staffing meets the state-required technology staffing formula as well as any increased technological demand.

Objective B: Increase the centralization and standardization of technology across the district in a way that respects instructional goals and streamlines technical support efforts.

Objective C: Maintain and upgrade existing technology in the district on a regular cycle which is in line with the district upgrade policy.

Objective D: Ensure that each school is equipped with at least one computer lab with 24 modern computers able to run any age-appropriate software. They also need to be capable of accessing any hosted software, such as online collaboration, digital portfolio or digital learning sites that the district maintains.

Objective E: Continue to support library media centers as areas of technology excellence. Ensure that each library media center has modern technology for reading, research, media creation and editing. Provide sufficient machines for an entire class to work in the MSS and HMHS library. (ebook/ereader?) (what about HMS?)

Objective F: Improve technology in instructional areas to ensure that it is part of the everyday classroom experience. Deploy projectors and interactive whiteboards to high-leverage areas. Investigate student response systems as a way to ensure that students are learning.

Objective G: Continue to provide computer hardware to support instructional initiatives and administrative tasks including, but not limited to: document cameras, scanners, digital video cameras, color and black and white laser printers, and scientific probes. Employ the use of handheld technologies to support student learning and to simplify staff administrative tasks.

Objective H: Maintain a multi-platform environment for continued support of existing software and encouragement of student flexibility in terms of technology use.
